YOSSO Climb Kilimanjaro Challenge 2012

The YOSSO Climb Kilimanjaro Challenge is a 10 days charity event that will be held in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania from 10 to 21 June 2012. It will bring together leading decision makers in sport, students, volunteers, politics, the private sector and civil society who wish to use sport to empower youth through sponsorship and participation.

Background Information

The YOSSO Climb Kilimanjaro Challenge is not just a standard charity trek!

In addition to climbing the Kilimanjaro, participants will also be given the opportunity to spend time at YOSSO Centres in the Kilimanjaro region and in Dar es Salaam with some of the children that their sponsorship money will benefit.

Furthermore, there will also be the option for participants to extend their stay in Tanzania. From the white sands of Zanzibar Island to arguably some of the best safari parks in the world, there is plenty to keep you occupied.

YOSSO Youth Complete Leadership Training

Across the Manzese slum, Dar es Salaam city of Tanzania at YOSSO Ukombozi center this  month, more than 15 YOSSO youth graduated from Peer Leadership programme, our intensive three month program, marking the end of another successful training. The coaches and YOSSO staff who worked with these kids over the past few months got to see the youth talk about what they’d learned and recognized for their achievements.
Those include not only completing a training of HIV education and life skills, but various courses in event management, leadership trainings and building relationships with their fellow YOSSO participants and coaches. Graduates included in and after school youth who attend YOSSO sport programme at Ukombozi centre.

Kipingu to grace youth tennis camp opening

 THE Chairman of Tanzania National Sports Council (NSC) Col. Iddi Kipingu is expected to grace the opening ceremony of the much anticipated Junior Simba Tennis Camp on Monday, the Tanzania Tennis Association has said.

The local tennis body also confirmed that the camp that runs for five days of full immersion tennis at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club would be facilitated by Italian tennis guru Fabrizio Caldarone, assisted by two local coaches namely Hassan Kassim and former national coach Morris Njohole.
